life according to jim?

Life gets crazy sometimes. If you don't think it does, you must have either a perfect life, or it's pretty boring! I'm guessing it's probably the latter if your life is smooth sailing all of the time.

Things have not been going as I would hope lately, and I've been stressed, discouraged and even a bit depressed, I'm sure. It usually takes a pretty swift kick in the head to get me to look at things the right way though. Finances are tight as usual, friendships have changed and that hurts, family isn't always cooperative and easy to live with, and work can get pretty hairy sometimes too. That's my life in a nutshell lately, every aspect has had some turmoil in one way, shape or form, and it's been driving me insane! I really wanted to start my classes to finish my degree this semester and the funding fell through multiple times over the summer. I'm still not sure how it'll happen in January but I'm hoping for a miracle and a super blessing...we'll see.

So anyway, we're hearing about "Life According to Jim" at church and studying the book of James. I "listen" to the sermons like most people do, but today it hit me that I'm really needing to not only listen, but to let it change me. This evening I was skimming in James and this week is going to be a new start for me... I've been really avoiding having quiet time because I've been so busy, tired, hurt, sick, apprehensive,....and now I realize it's what I need the most. So I'm starting with James. I'm going to do a chapter a day and read the devotionals in my Bible, ("The Inspirational Study Bible" edited by Max Lucado), which are pretty good.

So yeah, here's hoping for a better week. Even if it's crazy, hopefully my reaction to it will be changed.
