warm, fuzzy and buzzy...

that's what happens after a little wine and some irish ale! lol we're hanging out at home for the evening instead of going to friends', so i figured i may as well have a little fun, and i am! i'm kind of in "chill" mode right now though...

year in review...
it's been a hard year in some ways, and a great year in a lot of others.
friendships have been a little rough, but getting better (i think, hope).
family has been good, always has ups and downs, but that's normal, right?
work has definitely had ups and downs, but i like the new admin, so wth with what others think...
finances have been up and down, but good over all. (especially since i qualify for financial aid to finish my degree)
i'm enrolled in college full-time to get my psych degree and teacher certification.
i'm starting my own business, focusing on weightloss and websites.
we didn't move.
we still have our same jobs and kids haven't changed schools.
cars are running.
we added to our family by adopting "rushmore" (our awesome silver/gray tabby kitty).
"add" has been conquered with an awesome antioxidant supplement.
headaches, allergies and asthma are yet to be conquered.
i started sewing again, so far i've made 2 aprons (one for a little girl, and one for a doll), a doll skirt and vest set, and a "his" apron to match the "hers" apron i'm working on.
blessings abound, and God is good!

i am going to sit down and make some concrete goals for 2008 tomorrow, when i'm thinking 100% clearly (read: no wine or smythwick's...) and can truly focus on what i want to accomplish in the new year.

i really think it's going to be a great one!!!

it's nice to feel lazy once in awhile...

i've been home from school for a week now, and have just been hanging out and not doing anything that i don't want to do! it's been nice!

christmas eve was wonderful, we went to our christmas eve service and then came home and had lefse. it didn't turn out the best ever, but it was good to have our traditional norwegian meal and it let me reminisce about all of the times growing up that i had it. i can only think of one christmas that i might have missed having it, when i visited my dad's family and got my holly hobbie phonograph for christmas. oh wait, make it two, i visited jerry's family one year for christmas in west virginia while in college and i didn't have it then either. but ever since we've been married, i've made it every year except for the one year we went to kansas for christmas, which was 5 years ago. (yes, it's been 5 years since i've seen snow, i know, it's sad.....depresses me every time i think of it!)

christmas morning, elisabeth woke us up at 7 a.m.! the kids are always so much fun to watch! elisabeth got a "just like me" american girl doll, a barbie girl mp3/computer game thing, a sewing machine and an easy bake oven, along with some clothes and other things too. nick got an xbox 360 and a couple of games, along with some itunes gift cards, and some clothes also. jerry received a wvu football jersey, keychain and car decal, along with a new bible. i was given a beautiful black jewelry case (to match our bedroom i'm redoing), some gold hoop earrings, and a massager....i'm in heaven! i also got a pretty kitchen set of potholders/towels with chefs on it, just what i needed since my old ones were getting a litty dingy!

christmas day is pretty laid back around here, we like to eat things like cheeseballs, veggie trays, little smokies and things like that. we left to see the new national treasure movie in the late afternoon, and stopped by sonic for something to drink after the movie. (we were surprised that they were open!)

since then, we've just been hanging out. thursday i made a spiral ham with all of the fixings. we've had a video game tournament one evening, a card game night another evening, and just hung out last night. i think we may have a movie night tonight and watch "it's a wonderful life" and "the nativity story". we're still trying to enjoy christmas, for all 12 days!!! i even have some leftover potatoes from thursday, i'm thinking of trying my hand at lefse once more, so we can have a few to eat here and there for a few days.

today i'm going to paint our red tv stand black, and have jerry help rearrange our bedroom to accomodate the bigger tv. then i might pull out my sewing machine and get it set up to start on a few projects i've been wanting to do for awhile. i have over a week left of my break and jerry will be back to work on monday (but off on tuesday), so i want to be creative a bit before school starts back up!

i know, i swore it'd be better, but i'm a slacker...

what can i say?!?

this month has been crazy and busy as usual, but even more so when you add the broken arm, chronic headaches and holidays!

nick's been having headaches since thanksgiving weekend, and it has just been insane. we're trying to get him into a neurologist, but can't get an appointment until the 24th of january. he's missed a lot of school, but the quarter's over and he's allowed to turn stuff in after break, so hopefully he'll a little of it done, but i'm not stressing him out about it. i'm wondering if the stress of school and all of his projects has exacerbated the problem.

i'm working on starting my business, which is going to focus on a proven weightloss program that focuses on lifestyle changes, not just losing weight. it looks like we're going to start out by holding two separate meeting groups, one at my school and one at the Y. i'm excited about the possibilites this business has, and how God has given me some awesome visions about what to do with the income generated with it. i just know he's going to bless this business so we can further do more to reach more people for Christ, and that's so exciting to me. my first goal is to get jerry out of his bi-vocational status, and focusing more on ministry. after that, who knows?!?

i've registered for my classes for the spring semester. i'm taking 15 hours and have enough financial aid that it covers it and then some. guess i'll use it for living expenses so i won't need to tutor on the side or work during the summer. i want to graduate and be certified by december 2008 if possible. i believe i'm going to start shortly afterward on my master's degree too, there's so much i want to do and this is opening up so many doors of possibility. having a psychology degree can go in so many directions both in education and other areas too.

christmas has come up on me so quickly, i barely got anything accomplished for the holidays until mid-week this past week. i substituted for a teacher for 6 of the last 8 days of school and seemed to have something almost every evening. we were successful in surviving the last day of the quarter, which is always amazing to me. we also were successful in pulling off an awesome youth christmas party at our house too. i didn't get christmas cards sent out, and when i was thinking about doing it last minute i realized that most of the addresses were lost when my email inbox got deleted from Rushmore, our kitty, walking on the keys of our laptop. crazy kitten, he was chasing the cursor on the screen and i thought it was cute....until i realized his feet deleted my emails! so i'm working on an ecard to send out, hopefully i can get it out tomorrow afternoon. i still have a little bit of shopping to do, but not a ton. the major stuff is done. i do have some groceries to get for our christmas eve dinner of lefse though....can't wait for that, yum!!!

well i'm off for 2 weeks, so maybe i'll stop by and babble a bit more often over my break, but don't hold your breath! i don't want to be responsible for anyone suffocating from waiting for me to come back by this week! haha i plan to post some pics of our christmas and stuff, so i might surprise you and actually follow through! until then...don't hold your breath, k? :)
