The Summer's Out of Reach...

Nobody on the road, nobody on the beach.
I feel it in the air, the summers out of reach.
Empty lake, empty streets, the sun goes down alone...

Yep, one week of school is down and there are 176 days to go until next summer! School started Tuesday, I went back last Friday. So yeah, summer is gone until next year.

I'm kind of glad in some ways because of working and sleeping most of the summer. In others...my freedom is gone. I don't have a say over my weekdays any longer! But hey, I can't complain about working at school. I get all of the breaks with my kids and I do get the flexibility that summer brings.

Last Sunday we had a really cool "Summer Burnout" event at our house. The youth came, and we had one HUGE slip'n'slide!!! That sucker was 10'x100' and took up most of the length of our front yard. The kids played on that forever. We cooked out for supper, and they played on it some more. Once it started to get dark, Jerry gathered everyone around the firepit in our backyard and we had a fire, roasted marshmallows and made s'mores (twice in one month, that's pretty good...yum!). We ended the evening with Josh, our church's worship leader, playing the guitar and singing a few songs with us and a devotional led by Jerry. I think it was a great evening, and the kids who were visiting family from NV even showed up and were really fun to hang out with. I think this youth group is shaping up to be a really good thing. It's only 4 months old, and everyone seems to mesh already.

Well, it's the last "free" Saturday for awhile...football games/cheerleading start next Saturday, then soccer will be close behind that. I guess I'd better get caught up on stuff quickly!

I promise to post pictures of our vacation soon!

PS---Derek and Katie are getting married today. Wish we could be there guys! Congrats! Jerry and I can't wait to see pictures and hear everyone's stories about it!
