Elisabeth was baptized Sunday, and it was definitely an awesome moment. She prayed and asked Jesus into her heart the day before Thanksgiving as we were in the car. She had heard some song (I wish I remembered which one) on the Christian station I was listening to, and asked what something meant in the song. It basically was talking about following Jesus. During the conversation I told her that we need to choose to follow Him and ask him to forgive our sins, so she did. She's been saying she wants to be baptized since last summer when we saw some baptisms at my MIL's church, obviously we wanted her to wait until the time was right.
It was nice that she was baptized by Jerry. When Nick got baptized the church we were in wouldn't let Jerry do it "because he wasn't ordained in their denomination"...whatever. He was really hurt by that and regretted letting him be baptized there in some ways. So, when it was time to baptize Elisabeth he was really choked up for a minute. In the slideshow below, that's when Elisabeth looked up at him and then snuggled up to him. It was definitely a sweet moment.
We hadn't planned to have her baptized on Sunday because we hadn't had a good conversation with her prior to it. But Jeff (our pastor) asked if we wanted to let her be baptized then he and Jerry went and talked to her about it. She came running in to where I was and excitedly told me she was going to be baptized. She was ecstatic about it.
Oh yeah, "funny" things from the baptism....as soon as we walked outside, the pool colapsed on one side and started emptying out (thus the chairs on one side to help hold it up), and Jerry was too taken with emotion to pay attention carefully and he baptized the mic that was clipped to his shorts.....nice. Hopefully it's not dead, we'll find out later I guess.
