we went to stetson for studentlife camp with 4 of our youth. we had the best time, and it was awesome how god moved. everyone came home changed, including the adults... my big thing was realizing how much junk i was still toting around about what happened 2 summers ago. being there made it "in my face" and i guess it was a really good thing after all, because it also made me quit holding on to things i needed to discard. i just didn't realize i was holding onto them still. i'm glad god can show us stuff like that sometimes! if you're interested, you can see our blog, complete with pictures. it was an amazing time.
i'm working at summer school and waiting for target to un-screw-up my paperwork. seems they lost it somewhere and i've had to wait 3 weeks longer than necessary to get to go back to work there for my summer job.
my goals this summer are to better myself in every aspect of my life...
walking with god... my life has been pretty dry, and i want to commit to reading the bible daily like i should, and praying more often too. god has been so good and blessed us in so many way, and i need to focus a lot more in this area.
susie homemaker... my home is a wreck, and i want to organize, decorate and down-size, so that our family feels like it's a home that brings peace and relaxation, rather than utter chaos. the bedrooms and the garage are the "trouble areas" because no one ever sees them. i'm hoping to have the bedrooms in perfect order by the end of june, and the garage totally clutter-free by the end of july. clean sweep.....please help!
money-wise... i want to get on top of all of our bills, pay off some, and get ready to start school in the fall...this will take some doing, especially since i'm not working like i need to be yet, but with some discipline, i think we can at least get out from under a couple of things sooner than later. by october or november, we'll have at least 4 things paid off, but i'd love to be out from under them much sooner. more cooking at home, and less eating out....that's part of the key to it i think! (along with working, that would be nice, right?)
supermom... as a parent, i want to be more actively involved in my kids' everyday lives. i tend to get caught up in whatever else is going on. i want to focus on doing things with them this summer. the library, park, busch gardens, adventure island, beach, walks and bike rides, playing games, and doing projects togethers....getting them involved in cooking and home chores too. on top of that, we need to be more diligent in their spiritual lives, to make sure they are developing the relationship with god that they need to.
wannabe tri-athlete... physically, i want to lose this extra weight and get in shape. my goal is to lose 35 pounds between now and my b'day when i turn 35. i think that it's do-able in 12 weeks. eating better, exercise, etc. i need to do it for my health, but i also want to do it for vain reasons. nothing wrong with being a little vain to get motivated to get healthy, right?!?
wifey, wifey... as a wife, i need to be a lot better in all areas. i think that if i work on everything else i've mentioned, it will help this area though. :) of course, a few dates here and there would be good too! need to work on that.
okay, so that's it for now, my boring post about self-improvement 101. sorry to bore you (if anyone even reads this anymore)!
as sunflowers constantly turn toward the sun, i strive to face the SON throughout the day. many days i fail to keep my focus. it is my dream to one day become a beautiful sonflower
